ANTHONY PATERAS

Anthony Pateras is a composer and performer from Melbourne, Australia.  Primarily an idiosyncratic pianist, he also works with the Doepfer A-100 synthesizer and writes works for ensembles, orchestras and soloists.
Pateras explores diverse musical interests through his projects: high velocity piano/drums explorations (PIVIXKI), electro-acoustic improvising ensembles (Thymolphthalein), extended prepared piano pieces (Chasms) and immersive noise (Poletopra). People who have performed his concert works include the the LA Philharmonic New Music Group, Brett Dean., Percussion Group The Hague, Erkki Veltheim, Ensemble Phoenix Basel, Richard Tognetti and the Australian Chamber Orchestra. He has an ongoing creative relationship with percussionists Vanessa Tomlinson and Eugene Ughetti, writing numerous works for solo and ensemble percussion over the last decade. Generally he aims to develop a unique situation that achieves a highly specific outcome in each piece. He has performed or recorded with Han Bennink, Valerio Tricoli, Oren Ambarchi , Vulk Makedonski, Jim Denley, Paul Lovens, Fennesz, Lucas Abela, Slave Pianos, Thomas Lehn and The Necks.
